O2 is considering introducing business tariffs for customers who want to use iPhones at work.
At the moment the iPhone is only available on an 18-month consumer contract once you've passed a credit check. The iPhone tariffs are being changed from tomorrow.
A spokeswoman for O2 told us: "I can't really say much more to be honest, iPhones are only available now on an 18-month consumer contract but we are looking at introducing business tariffs." Business tariffs are typically more flexible and include cheaper calls to other phones held on the same business account.
Although initially aimed squarely at the consumer market, iPhone sales have disappointed hysterical expectations in Europe.
We revealed early in January that IBM is working on a Lotus client for the iPhone so O2's move is not totally unexpected. We may see more business applications soon - Apple is releasing the software development kit in February.
In other tariff news Vodafone is rejigging the way it charges businesses and consumers for mobile data. From 4 February Vodafone's 3 GB mobile broadband service costs £15 a month.
You can roam abroad for £9.99 a day (24 hours). This applies to most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the USA.
If you go over your limit then charges will be £15 per GB.
Business customers will see monthly fair usage limits increased from 3GB to 5GB. Article from The Register Discuss this news article
